The Pavilion of the Royal Monopolies was composed of a spacious vestibule designed in a circular layout (surmounted by a slender and elegant cupola) from which one entered the room dedicated to the "Salt and Quinine Exhibit" on the left side, and the large hall of machines for the manufacture of tobacco on the right side. In front of the pavilion there was a small experimental field for the cultivation of tobacco. The Salt Exhibit included a model of a salt mill in action, which served to illustrate the process of the extraction of salt from seawater.
