Typically lasting between three and six months, World's Fairs were temporary events, with structures designed to last only for the duration of the fair and typically destined to be dismantled after closure. Their ephemerality creates unique challenges for scholars interested in locating, documenting, archiving, and preserving the fairs' diverse materials.
In order to facilitate interactions among World's Fairs scholars and promote the dissemination of World's Fairs' ephemera we have created an expansive map of institutions, individuals, and projects devoted to numerous World's Fairs.
In the map inititives are represented with a ochre dot, while World's Fairs with a white dot. A line connects the inititive with the World's Fair/s subject of the initiative.
