Descriptive Note Text
This color postcard reproduces the painting of the Alpine Village created by Luigi Rigorini. The original watercolor (cm. 58 x 84) is held by the Biblioteca Nazionale dei Club Alpino Italiano, in Turin, Italy.
The painting reproduces a view of Piazza Quintino Sella, with the village's church and fountain. While the fountain was a faithful reproduction of the fountain in the alpine village of Jouvenceaux (Sauze d'Oulx, Italy), the church combined elements of typical alpine village churches, with their simple frescoes, steep roofs, and bell towers. On the right side, one can see a typical log cabin, possibly a recreation of a typical building of the Cadore region in the Eastern Alps.
