Descriptive Note Text
This black-and-white postcard shows the Palazzo dell’America Latina at the 1911 Turin International Exposition. The building is a long, symmetrical two-story structure in the ornate eclectic style typical of the exposition. At its center is a monumental entrance framed by a tall, deeply recessed glazed arch, topped by a ribbed dome with a lantern. Smaller domed corner pavilions sit at each end of the façade, and the long wings between them are lined with regular rows of decorated windows, pilasters, and balustrades. On the far right, another domed structure and what appears to be a wooden framework or scaffolding are partially visible.
In the foreground, the Po fills the lower half of the image. The angle from across the river shows the building as visitors would have seen it from the opposite bank or from the water. That makes it a useful view for understanding how the exposition used the river as a scenic element.
