Descriptive Note
G-Roger Sandoz was a French architectural historian, jeweler, and goldsmith. He came from a family of clockmakers and jewelers. His father, Gustave Sandoz, opened a shop in Paris in 1861 at the Palais Royal. G-Roger moved the firm to the rue Royale and, as vice-president of the French committee for exhibitions and Commander of the Légion d’Honneur, was a prominent promoter of the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes. As a designer, he was especially known for his Art Déco creations of jewelry and decorative objectcs featuring geometric patterns. He also wrote numerous catalogues and reports of various expositions. On the occasion of the Exposition of Turin 1911, he co-authored the Rapport Général de la Section Française with Émile Berr.
