Descriptive Note
Aldo Mazza (1880-1964) was a painter, caricaturist, and illustrator. He studied at the Accademia di Brera, and was affiliated with publishing houses such as Vallardi, Sonzogno, Bertatelli, and Officine Grafiche Ricordi and periodicals and newspapers and weekly magazines such as Guerin Meschino, L’Illustrazione Italiana, and Il Secolo. He created illustrations for advertisement pieces and propaganda materials, postcards, and calendars. Elegant women, urban landscapes, and floral compositions were Mazza’s most frequent subjects.
For the Turin 1911 Exposition, Mazza created a patriotic poster advertising discounted travel fares for exposition's visitors coming to Turin from other Italian cities.
