Descriptive Note
Domenico Locchi was an illlustrator, cartographer, and creator of relief maps. He worked as an illustrator of gergraphical and historical maps for the publishing house Paravia (Torino). He became a member of the Societa' Geografica Italiana in 1885. He resided briefly in Palermo, Sicily, where he created relief maps of the island and neighboring islands. Due to cholera outbreaks in Sicily, he relocated to Turin in 1887. He participated to various Expositions, including Turin 1884, where we was awarded a silver medal for his catrographic works.
For the Exposition of Turin 1911, Domenico Locchi created a bas relief of Italy, in color, that was displayed in the Pavilion of the Istituto Geografico De Agostini.
