Descriptive Note Text
This black-and-white postcard captures an open carriage carrying Princess Letizia from downtown Turin to the fairgrounds in Valentino Park, possibly on the occasion of the Exposition's inauguration or the opening of a key public event related to it. A pair of dark horses with decorative harnesses and plumes pull the carriage. A coachman in livery sits high on the box holding a whip. The passengers are in the open carriage: women in large, wide-brimmed hats typical of the period, and at least one man in a light-colored uniform cap.
Behind the carriage are many mounted riders, probably a cavalry or military escort, and a dense crowd of spectators in dark coats and hats. Some people are holding umbrellas or parasols.
