Descriptive Note Text
This postcard advertises the "ferrovie aeree" -- one of the main attractions of the 1911 Exposition. A cable-pulled gondola system connected the two banks of the River Po in two specific areas: the first operated between the Pavilion of Arts Applied to Industry and the Pavilions of Argentina and Brazil; and the second connected the Amusement Park and Oriental Kermesse with the Pilonetto and the Pavilion of the Italians Abroad. The postcard also advertised the "tapis roulant" a moving walkway below the Monumental Bridge connecting the Pavilion of Festivals with the Pavilions of Germany and France. The back of the postcard advertises the companies that built the gondola systems and moving walkway.
