This black-and-white photo postcard shows the inauguration of the Stadium, with the arrival of the Queen and King of Italy.  Designed by architect Carlo Ceppi, the Stadium was modeled on the design of a classic amphitheatre and was advertized as the largest in the world. Unlike the ephemeral pavilions of Turin 1911, the Stadium was built in reinforced concrete and designed to last beyond the conclusion of the 1911 Exposition.
