Descriptive Note Text
This postcard reproduces a watercolor of the Pavilion of Serbia by painter Carlo Follini. The pavilion was in the Serbian-Byzantine style with elongated arches, and was decorated with arabesques and friezes, painted and in stucco. These arches were crossed, horizontally, by alternating polychrome strips. Several slender cupolas decorated the building – which was perceived as original and charming in its distinctly exotic appearance by contemporary fairgoers, in constrast with the Exposition's neo-baroque pavilions.
