Descriptive Note Text

This photograph was published in Neudeutsche Bauzeitung in 1912, n°13, page 10.

The image shows the area named "Vízi-udvar" (Water Court) in the Pavilion of Hungary's great hall, featuring a large water basin at the center of which stood Miklos Ligeti's éosin sculpture, "Pogány lány bivalyon," ("Pagan Girl on a Buffalo").  Built at the Zsolnay factory  in Pécs, the statue was returned to the city at the end of the Exposition.  Ligeti surrounded the nude figure of a maiden reclining on a buffalo's back with the fountain's jeux d'eau.
