This is a reproduction of a photograph from the 1911 Turin International Exposition, taken from an elevated position looking toward the Palazzo dell’Elettricità (Palace of Electricity). The Palazzo dell’Elettricità fills the middle of the frame. Its ground level has a curving front with large rounded triumphal arches set between colonnaded bays, decorated with sculptural ornament. Above this, stepped and scalloped gables carry festoons and cartouches. A tall, slender spire rises at the left of the composition. At the right, there is a domed lantern tower with a ribbed cupola, topped by a flagpole and a flag.
The Monumento al Principe Amedeo, the equestrian statue of Amedeo of Savoy, Duke of Aosta, stands on a tall pedestal near the edge of the plaza, set among trees. A long, curving balustrade with molded ornament borders the scene. Inside it are formal planted beds with a palm tree at the center, and a terraced, stepped parterre leads toward the monument.
