Descriptive Note Text
This photograph depicts the Côte d'Azur kiosk, a promotional pavilion built to represent the French Riviera region at the exhibition.
The building is a low, wide pavilion executed in an elaborate Baroque or Rococo Revival style. Two ornate columns frame the building's façade, each one topped with a decorative oval cartouche or shield-shaped element. Behind them, the façade features a large scalloped archway as its central entrance, surrounded by dense sculptural ornamentation, scrollwork, and what appear to be carved figures or reliefs in the Baroque manner. A smaller rectangular doorway sits within the grand arch.
The pavilion is set within a landscaped section of the fairgrounds, with tall trees rising behind and beside it, and a single ornamental lamppost stands in the foreground along the gravel path leading up to the building.
