Descriptive Note Text

This postcard reproduces a watercolor by painter Carlo Cussetti. Cussetti captures the elegance of the Pavilion's entrance, with its "pronao" (colonnaded entrance), and the magnificence of the great dome of the central hall. The dome, which was said to be inspired by the dome of Saint Peter in Rome, ended on a pinnacle with a Winged Victory, which was 45 meters high from the ground.
