Descriptive Note Text

This postcard reproduces a watercolor of the Pavilion of Siam by painter Carlo Follini.  The watercolor gives us a glimpse of what the original colors of the Pavilion might have been, in constrast with the Exposition's neo-baroque pavilions that were consistently white. The Pavilion was inspired by the architecture of local temples (Wat) with large, polychrome roofs, in the so-called "binocular style," and with a golden dome, as shown in this image.

This postcard was mailed from Turin to Piacenza, Italy on 27 April, 1912.
