Descriptive Note Text
This is a printed postcard of the United States Pavilion at the 1911 Turin International Exposition, seen from across the Po River. The view looks across the river toward the long, low U.S. Pavilion, a neoclassical building in pale stone or stucco, set on a raised embankment wall along the water’s edge. The façade has a regular rhythm of tall arched windows separated by pilasters, and is broken by pedimented end bays and a taller central entrance block with a triangular pediment and decorative crest. Flagpoles rise from the roofline.
To the right, beyond the U.S. Pavilion, stand the steep, tiered roofs of the Siamese Pavilion and the ornate structure of the Serbian Pavilion.
