Descriptive Note Text
This black and white photo postcard shows an exterior view of the Palazzo della Moda.
The building presents a long façade running along the street, crowned with bulbous domes topped with tall finials. The domes are ringed with small urn-shaped ornaments at their bases and each pierced by small medallion windows on their drums.
Below the domes, the façade is organized with a strong sense of classical rhythm: paired pilasters divide the wall surface into bays, framing tall arched windows on the ground floor and smaller oval windows above.
At ground level, a large arched entrance is sheltered by a broad canvas awning, over which a sign reading "PALAZZO DELLA MODA" is mounted. Low balustrades run along sections of the upper roofline and terrace. In the foreground, wo pedestrians — a woman in a long white dress carrying a parasol, and a companion in dark clothing — stroll past the building, giving a sense of scale.
