Descriptive Note Text

This beautiful colorized photo postcard shows the main portal of the Pavilion of Hungary, surmounted by the iconic catenary dome. One can also see the main pyramidal dome of the Pavilion, which was said to represent the tallest peak in the Tatra mountains. Modernity enters this space via the automobile parked in front of the Pavilion, signalling Turin's ambition to present itself as the capital of the automobile industry in Italy. The back of the postcard displays the coat of arms of the Savoy Royal Family and that of the city of Turin.
