This black-and-white photo shows the "villaggio eritreo" in the Pilonetto area. The guidebooks of the time emphasized the village's "authenticity," pointing out that "autentici indigeni" (actual indigenous people) lived in the villages. These people were members of troupes that travelled from exposition to exposition under the management of an impresario.
