Descriptive Note
Bietti Edizioni was founded in Milan in 1870, by Angelo Bietti. Bietti specilized in publishing literary classics at very affordable prices (Jules Verne, Alexandre Dumas, Fëdor Dostoevskij etc.).
Upon Angelo's death, Bietti edizioni passed on to Angelo's son, Antonio Bietti, under the name of "Fratelli Bietti e G. Minacca" and expanded its catalogues to include school texts and the Vocabolario della lingua italiana by Nicola Zingarelli, which was completed only in 1921. The company was forced to close during the Fascist regime for having published numerous foreign authors.
Bietti edizioni published collections of photographs related to the Exposition of Turin 1911.
