Descriptive Note

Luigi Mancinelli was an Italian conductor, composer, and cellist. He started his career in Perugia and Bologna, and then became the principal conductor at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London and at the "Old Metropolitan" Opera House in New York. He also held appointments in Madrid, Lisbon, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires.

Mancinelli gained high renown as a conductor while his compositions enjoyed limited success. 

On the occasion of the Exposition of Turin 1911, Mancinelli was invited to direct two concerti sinfonici at the Pavilion of Festivals and Concerts:

June 18, 1911: with music selections composed by Mancinelli himself.

June 20, 1911: with music by Mancinelli and Rinaldi.
