Descriptive Note

Renzo Bossi was a conductor and composer. He studied organ, piano, violin, and composition, at the Liceo Musicale of Venice and specialized in Leipzig (Austria). He conducted orchestras in various theatres in Italy and abroad, including La Scala in Milan. He taught organ and composition at the Regio Conservatorio di Musica in Parma and in 1916 he was appointed instructor at the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan.

 

He wrote the operas, Passa la ronda (Milan, March 3, 1919); Volpino il calderaio (Milan, Nov. 13, 1925); La rosa rossa (Parma, Jan. 9, 1940), among other works.

 

On the occasion of the Exposition of Turin 1911, Maestro Bossi directed a Concerto Sinfonico on October 31, 1911 in the Salone delle Feste, Pavilion of Festivals and Concerts, with music by his brother Enrico Bossi as well as selections from his own compositions.
