Descriptive Note
Giulio Ricordi was an editor and musician. In 1863 he began to work in the family publishing house, Casa Ricordi and upon the death of his father in 1888 he became the head of the company.
Ricordi often used the pen name Jules Burgmein. He produced magazines such as La gazzetta musicale, Musica e musicisti, Ars et labor, etc. He was the publisher of the later operas by Giuseppe Verdi, including Othello and Falstaff, and a mentor to young Giovanni Puccini.
For the Turin 1911 Fair, Ricordi composed and published the Valzer per l'Esposizione di Torino 1911 dedicated to Tommaso Villa.
