Descriptive Note
Ferdinando Bocca, one of the prominent members of the Italian liberal bourgeoisie of the early 20th century, received a degree in jurisprudence from the University of Turin and went on to work in his family leather tanning business. During his life he played notable political and entrepreneurial roles, such as president of Confindustria (General Confederation of Italian Industry) from 1914 to 1918. He also served as president of the Chamber of Commerce of Turin from 1909 to 1921. He was increasingly involved in politics (specifically with Giovanni Giolitti since 1913), and obtained the Fascist Party membership in 1927, becoming then “Podesta” of Rivalta di Torino during the Thirties.
