Descriptive Note
Eye Telcs studied decorative art in Budapest and Vienna, where he attended the Allgemeine Bildhauerschule. He also studied in Utrecht, the Netherlands, for two years, and visited Italy often. Telcs dedicated himself mostly to sculpture during his career, receiving commissions for public monument, tombstones and architectural sculptures. He also made about two hundred and fifty major medals and plaques. Telcs the sculptural ornaments of the Academy of Music and the Adria Palace in Budapest. In 1900, he won first prize for his monument in honor of Empress Elizabeth of Austria. In 1905 he was commissioned to work on a statue of the poet Vörösmarty to be erected in Budapest, and another of Kossuth in Kecskemét. He participated in several Expositions, including the World's Fair in Antwerp.
The Pavilion of Hungary in 1911 Turin displayed his busts of Emperor Franz Josef and King Victor Emmanuel III.
