Descriptive Note
Giovanni Battista Carpanetto studied art at the Accademia Albertina in Turin. In addition to painting he was also an accomplished lithographer, and one of Italy's first poster artists -- designing his first poster in 1887.
In 1899 he designed the poster to advertise Fiat's first automobile, and went on to design over twenty posters throughout his career, the majority of which were almost entirely for exhibitions around Turin. His allegorical images are depicted in a classic, Liberty style.
