Descriptive Note
Miksa Róth was a Hungarian mosaicist and stained glass artist. Róth apprenticed at his father, Zsigmond Róth's leaded stained glass studio and started his own business in 1885. Róth was inspired by the work of Pre-Raphaelite artists Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris. He made commissions for a number of buildings, including the Hungarian Parliament Building, the Castle of Buda and the National Theatre of Mexico.
Róth participated in several Expositions, including the Hungarian Millennial Exhibition where he worked on the Hall of Industry, the Paris World Exhibition in 1900, where he received a silver medal for his stained glass piece entitled Pax and was a prominent figure in the decoration of the Hungarian Pavilion in Turin 1911.
