Descriptive Note Text
In 1866, Brothers Pallade and Simon Violet, itinerant drapers from Thuir (France), developed an aromatised wine apéritif wine made with mixed dry wines, mistelles and quinine. They marketed it as a health drink or tonic and Byrrh was initially sold only in pharmacies. It became very popular in the early twentieth century.
This kiosk was located in the gardens of the French section.
