Maison Cointreau père et fils Kiosk

Descriptive Note Text

The Cointreau distillery was founded in 1849 in Angers, France, by brothers Adolphe and Édouard-Jean Cointreau. Their first commercial success was guignolet, a cherry alcohol whose recipe had been forgotten until they reproduced it. In 1875, Édouard Cointreau invented a new distillation process to obtain a triple sec, a transparent liquid three times more concentrated in aromas. The Cointreau liqueur is the ultimate success of the company, which won numerous medals and benefited from an innovative advertising campaign, a cinematographic advertisement produced by the Lumière Brothers.

This kiosk was located in the gardens of the French section.
