The second volume of the collection “APRi in Mostra” is now available. The initiative is promoted by the Polytechnic University of Turin and published by DIST-APRi – Archivi Professionali e della Ricerca, in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Turin and the University of Turin.
The volume is dedicated to the Musso–Clemente Collection, which preserves significant archival materials documenting professional and artistic practices in the early twentieth century.
The central figures presented in the publication is Carlo Musso, one of the most skilled and renowned decorators of his time. His work played a key role in the decorative programs of several pavilions built for the Turin International Exhibition of 1911, one of the city’s most important international events. Among his most notable projects are the decorations for the National Pavilion of Siam and the Martini & Rossi Exhibition Kiosk.
Through a detailed analysis of Musso’s works, the volume reconstructs his professional career and highlights his collaborations with architects, designers, and industrial clients. A dedicated section focuses on the Martini & Rossi Kiosk, examined through a recently discovered drawing, probably by architect Pietro Fenoglio, and a series of letters exchanged between Musso and Fenoglio. These documents offer valuable insights into the design process, decorative solutions, and practical aspects of the project, including execution methods and labor costs.
The publication also aims to promote the dissemination of archival heritage. The entire volume has been digitized and is available online under “Collezioni Storiche” (Polytechnic University of Turin’s historical archives platform) where it can be freely consulted.
