<Joined with Pest only in the 19th century to form the modern city of Budapest. Former capital of the Kingdom of Hungary, located on slopes of Buda hills on right bank of the Danube; there was a Roman camp on this site since the time of Tiberius; was the capital of Pannonia inferior from 106 CE; fortified by Valerius I against Sarmatian attacks 4th cen.
