This postcard advertizes the International Competition of Practical Telegraphy held on the occasion of the 1911 Exposition. The artist captures the speed with which telegraphy transmitted messages long distance with the depiction of dynamic allegorical figures including Mercury, the swift messenger of the Gods, with his winged helmet (in the foreground).  One can see telegraph poles and the Mole Antonelliana in the background.
