Descriptive Note
Eugène Bliault attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris between 1888 and 1903, graduating with a degree in architecture. He served as Inspector of the works of the Palais des Congrès at the 1900 Universal Exhibition. He was a government architect for the ministries of Commerce, Public Education, Public Works, and Posts and Telegraphs, and served as manager of the Real Estate Department of Chocolat Menier.
He was very active in the arena of Universal Exhibitions. He designed the French sections of the Universal Exhibitions of Saint Louis in 1904, Liège in 1905, and Milan in 1906. He exhibited at the Salon of French artists in Paris in 1906, and was awarded a medal at the Universal and International Exhibition of Ghent in 1913, and a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1900 (decorative arts); a silver medal (ironwork), and gold medal at the Exhibition of Saint-Louis in 1904 (workers' housing).
Bliault was active in Bolivia with the design of the Palacio Portales in Cochabamba (1915-1927) rand served as member of the jury at numerous international exhibitions.
He designed the kiosk of the Chocolat Menier for the Turin 1911 Exposition.
