The Théâtre des Italiens in Paris was the venue for the grandest of opera productions by composers such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gioachino Rossini, and Giuseppe Verdi. This postcard captures a scene portraying elegantly dressed theatre goers, undescores the presence of Italian art in France, and publicizes the fur coats creatted by Revillon Frères (Revillon Brothers).  

Revillon Frères was a French fur and luxury goods company, which was established in Paris in 1723 with branches in London, New York City, and Montreal.

By 1911, Revillon Frères had fur trading posts in Russia, Siberia, Mongolia, Turkestan, and North America, and was one of the the largest fur company in the world.
