Descriptive Note Text

This illustration captures the elegance of both the Pavilion of Fashion and the crowds of fairgoers visiting the Pavilion. Men in top hats and elegant black overcoats provide a visual counterpart to the ladies wearing light-colored elaborate dresses, ornate hats, and carrying cheerful parasols. The crowds and the stately pavilion with four Italian flags waving in the breeze render the festive and celebratory nature of the 1911 Exposition.
