Descriptive Note Text

This black-and-white photo postcard shows the imposing river facade of the Pavilion of Russia. In the background, on the right side of the picture, one can see one of the turrets of the Medieval Rocca.

The Pavillion of Russia was designed by Russian architect Vladimir Alekseevič Ščuko. Neoclassical in style, the Pavilion featured 12 exposition rooms, where Russia displayed traditional and industrial products, an enormous collection of statues and bronzes, and also some furniture from the Royal Palace of Saint Petersburg.
